Earlier this year Merit Group chose Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS UK) as our corporate charity to support this year, and in turn has taught us so much about this complex condition that has such a wide scope of effects that can affect so much or so little of those around us.
Ehlers-Danlos Support UK offer the support and information to those affected and work closely with the medical and scientific communities to improve diagnosis, treatments and joined up care which all play such an important role to not only this condition but to many others also.
As part of our fundraising campaign, we nominated our friend Elliot Hendy to run in The London Marathon 2016 this past Sunday and set him both a personal target of under 4 hours to complete the 26 mile race AND to raise a whopping £3,500.
And Elliot sure beat the staggering 4 hour target!! Elliot did us proud and managed to finish with a final time of 03:58:47! WELL DONE ELLIOT!
Although we did not hit our target in fundraising, we still raised an incredible £2,528.96!
We received this letter from the Managing Director of EDS UK:
A big thank you to all of those who helped us raise the funds for such a wonderful charity, and for those at EDS UK who helped cheer on Elliot at The London Marathon on Sunday!
We hope that our efforts and support has given more of the public knowledge on how popular and widespread this condition is, yet how unrecognised it is also.
