Here are a few words from Mark Jones, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity:
ARK Cancer Centre Charity is delighted to welcome Merit Group on board as one of its charity partners.
Merit Group’s team will be focusing their fundraising efforts in the remaining months of this year and 2017 on supporting the charity’s £5 million fundraising campaign.
Basingstoke-based Merit Group started life as Merit Recruitment and has gone from strength to strength. Today it also includes Merit Managed Services and Merit Hygiene Services.
Samantha Noorduijn, head of Merit Group, said: “When our managing director Maria Nunes and myself met with Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, to talk about the charity and cancer treatment centre plans, we were impressed with this important and visionary project, and were keen to help and support it.
“The state-of-the-art centre will provide not only treatment but much-needed support and care to those individuals and their families affected by cancer. Many of our own employees have been affected by cancer in some way, which makes this a cause very close to all of our hearts.”
Samantha added: “We are delighted and very proud to have Ark Cancer Centre Charity as our charity of choice. We will be holding various events and fundraising activities over the course of 2016 and 2017.
“Some of our team have signed up to support the charity in the Basingstoke half-marathon and another runner will be raising funds by taking part in the Bournemouth marathon.”
Mark Jones said: “Ark Cancer Centre Charity is delighted to have the support of Maria, Samantha and the other members of the Merit Group team. Their involvement will have a telling impact as they help to raise awareness of, and funds for, the charity’s £5m appeal and the cancer treatment centre project.
“Merit Group is a very welcome addition to the family of Our Partner supporters. All of these organisations, and the people who are involved in them, are really making a big difference.”
Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5m appeal will ensure a range of support services and complementary therapies are available alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments in a calm and uplifting environment.
The new centre, which is largely being funded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), is earmarked for a location in the Basingstoke and Deane area, and if the preferred site near to Junction 7 of the M3 is approved, it will be easily accessible to everyone in the HHFT region.
